This Baraboo, Wisconsin Devils Lake Elopement was absolutely BREATHTAKING. I’m so obsessed!! These two are the sweetest, most down to earth, and down to try anything at least once. It was such a fun time being able to capture Christie and Ryan’s love for each other, while also showing them some awesome spots in the Park. They’re originally from out of state so they haven’t been to Devil’s lake yet so it was so cool to show them some spots!
Did you know you don’t have to travel thousands of miles for a jaw dropping elopement backdrop?
Gorgeous nature, lush greenery, moody forests, cliffs, overlooks.
All Wisconsin State Parks require a commercial use permit for weddings, elopements, and photography sessions. The permit must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the event. If you’re needing larger equipment, you’ll need a special events permit as well. You can email the park or call 608-356-8301 for more information.
Link for a special events permit here.
If you’re wanting more of a micro wedding instead, The Gathering Place at Red Oak is available for rent. The venue is located on the South Shore of Devils Lake and includes seating for up to 100 guests max, wood burning fire place, heating, air conditioning, kitchen space, and a full scenic view of Devil’s Lake. You can book the venue through this link here.
If you’re wanting to get married at Devil’s Lake State Park or any of the Wisconsin State Parks, you’ll need a reservation, commercial use permits, a special event permit, a state park sticker for your vehicle. You can view this link for more information.
– If you’re wanting to avoid crowds, plan your elopement for off season, early mornings, and weekdays.
-You’ll want to purchase a state park sticker before visiting. As of right now, Devils Lake also accepts National Park Passes.
If you want to avoid crowds, you’ll want to avoid eloping in the summer. Opt for the fall months! Mid October is great for the gorgeous fall colors and avoiding crowds. I always recommend eloping at sunrise or early morning and during the week due to Devil’s Lake being a very popular park it can still get busy in the fall. If you don’t mind the cold, Devil’s Lake can still look very pretty in the winter. The Wisconsin cold winter elopements are definitely not for the weak though!
